GENERAL QUESTIONS

What is a tool?

A tool is a bite-sized worksheet, exercise, or activity guide designed to help you become an even better version of yourself. It may come in the form of a pdf, audio recording, or video, but it will always be to brief (most tools take less than 30 minutes to complete), evidence-based (as you will see in its description), and actionable (you will actively engage with the tool, not passively consume it).

How will I receive my tool?

All of the tools on our site are digital content. After purchase, they can be downloaded from the site or from a link you will receive in your email. You can access all of the tools you have purchased on an ongoing basis, as long as you maintain your account and they remain listed on our site. Tools you bought previously can be viewed on the “My Purchases” tab of your profile page.

I bought a tool and love it. Can I share it with friends or colleagues?

When you purchase a tool, you do so through an irrevocable, non-transferable individual use license for your own personal, educational, and instructional use only. If you think your friends or colleagues would benefit from a tool, please send them a link to the Tool’s page so they can purchase it for themselves. Please also consider reviewing your tool.

Who creates your tools?

The tools sold on Mindstead are made by a broad community of practitioners: licensed psychologists, social workers, coaches, alternative therapists, faith-based counselors, self-help authors, and other human behavior experts. You can read more about each of them and their experience in their Shop profile.

Do you have tools in languages other than English?

We do not have tools in languages other than English yet, but we’re hoping to change this in the future. If you know any practitioners who make tools in other languages, especially in Spanish, please introduce us.

I’m looking for a tool that you don’t have listed.

If you have a specific tool you’d like to see, please request it through our Tool Request page. We’ll reach out to our community and see if any practitioners have tools on that topic and do our best to let you know once they are listed.

I found an error on your site and/or something on your site isn’t working.

Thanks for noticing! Our website is quite new and errors may occur. Please email us at [email protected], describe the issue you’re experiencing in as much detail as you can (screenshots are very helpful!), and we’ll figure out a way to fix it. Thank you for your help in improving our site!

Mindstead is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. The site, and the content listed on it by practitioners, have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. I’m looking for a therapist, coach, social worker, or other counselor. Who do you recommend?

Unfortunately, we don’t presently have a direct referral service for practitioners or offer traditional one-on-one or group therapy, coaching, or alternative services. Below is a list of a few good places to look for a traditional practitioner like this. Note that we are not affiliated with any of these networks and are not responsible for any beliefs, actions, and support provided for them and/or for any positive or negative interactions you may have: Black Emotional and Mental Health (BEAM), Black Female Therapists, Gay/Lesbian Medical Association, Help Pro, Inclusive Therapists, Latinx Therapy, Life Coach Hub, Melanin & Mental Health, the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), National Queer/Trans Therapists of Color Network, Network Therapy, Pride Counseling, Psychology Today, Therapy for Black Girls, Therapy for Black Men. You may also want to consult your insurance company, if you have one.

How do you ensure quality?

The tools sold on our marketplace are developed by a mix of licensed therapists, coaches, and other human behavior experts who share our goal of creating greater access to high-quality evidence-based tools for behavioral interventions. You can see each practitioner’s individual credentials, including degrees and licenses, on their Shop page. The academic research and other evidence that supports each tool is listed under each tool’s description. Tools are also rated by the people who purchase them, helping to highlight the most effective tools. If you have any concerns about the quality of a tool, you’re also able to flag the tool using the “Flag Tool” button on the Tool’s page or by contacting us at [email protected].

Can I return my purchase?

Being digital products, all sales are final.

Is there a way I can connect with other people who are also working on their personal growth?

Many support groups exist including our own group, Mindstead People, which is available to all on Facebook. Here you can connect with other people working on their personal growth, share tips and encouragement, receive free tool alerts, read inspirational quotes, and participate in discussions all designed to help you become the best version of yourself.

What if I have another question?

Feel free to contact us through our contact form or by emailing us at [email protected]. They both go to the same place, so kindly only use one.
